President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation headed by the First Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Ecuador Rosana Alvarado.
Welcoming the guests to our country, President Sargsyan underscored that in Armenia we are always happy to host representatives of the friendly states because visits such as this one give a new quality and content to the bilateral relations and present a good opportunity to discuss different issues of the interstate cooperation.
Noting that he is aware that the visit of Mrs. Alvarado was to take place earlier, on April 24 but was postponed due to a devastating earthquake in Ecuador which claimed numerous lives, Serzh Sargsyan once again conveyed his deep condolences and support to the friendly people of Ecuador and expressed hope that the authorities of Ecuador will be able to fully eliminated the consequences of the earthquake in the shortest possible time.
The President of Armenia assessed the visit of Mrs. Rosana Alavardo to Armenia as a proof of the development of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and welcomed the intention to create in the National Assembly of Ecuador a group of friendship with Armenia which, according to the President, will considerably promote the interparliamentary ties and as a result will strengthen and deepen the interstate relations.
Rosana Alvarado thanked President Sargsyan for the warm welcome and noted that the present visit was very important for development of the relations between Ecuador and Armenia. She underscored that one of the main provisions of the Constitution of Ecuador stipulates the establishment of good and friendly relations with all countries and nations of the world, thus they are interested in creating warm brotherly relations with the friendly people of Armenia.
The parties stressed the importance of creating a legal field which is necessary for the development of cooperation and spoke about interaction of the two countries in the framework of international organizations.
Saluting the Chairperson of the Commission on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of Ecuador Maria Augusta Calle Andrade, who was one of the initiators of the Armenian Genocide recognition in Parlatino, President Sargsyan expressed to her and all the supporters of that initiative his deep gratitude and noted that in Armenia we highly appreciate all efforts aimed at the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
The President of Armenia wished all the best to the delegation of the Parliament of Ecuador and expressed hope that it will give an impetus to the development of the bilateral interstate relations.
