President received member of the European Parliament Frank Engel

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the member of the European Parliament Frank Engel.

Greeting the guest, the President noted that he is always welcome to Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan hailed activities of Frank Engel related to Armenia and issues which are important for the Armenian people as well as his special attitude toward the NK issue which, according to the President of Armenia, was displayed at its best at the European Parliament, and in his today’s statements at the Global Forum conducted in Yerevan. The President of Armenia expressed gratitude for the precise information and righteous approaches which were presented in the statements of the EP member Frank Engel. “It is critical that the European Parliament and European public in general are aware of the actual cases, their causes and motives,” said President Serzh Sargsyan and commended Frank Engel’s initiative to visit these days the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.

Frank Engel thanked the President of Armenia for the reception, for the high assessment of his public activities, as well as for the warm words.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the possibility of resuming the NK peace process and conditions which are essential for doing it. Frank Engel underscored the importance of solving the problem through the exclusively peaceful means and expressed readiness - as a member of the European Parliament - to support the peaceful resolution of the conflict conducted in the framework of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serzh Sargsyan extended his congratulations and handed to the member of the European Parliament Frank Engel the Mkhitar Gosh Medal which was awarded to him at the beginning of this year for his considerable contribution to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
