President Serzh Sargsyan and President Hassan Rouhani had a phone conversation

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan had a phone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani. The conversation was initiated by the Iranian side.

The Presidents discussed the situation recently established at the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact. President Sargsyan presented to his counterpart details of Azerbaijan’s military offensive and adequate measures taken by the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh. The President of Armenia made a special reference to the violent actions against the peaceful population, comparing them to the actions carried out by the infamous terrorist groups of the region.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran underscored that in the context of terrorist groups and other challenges, outburst of new trigger points in the region is not in anyone’s interest and it is necessary to employ every possible means to re-establish the process of peace negotiations. President Rouhani noted that the NK problem has no military solution.

The Presidents of Armenia and Iran discussed also items of the Armenia-Iran bilateral agenda and concurred that it is necessary to continue to deepen friendly relations of the two states and mutually beneficial cooperation.
