President participated at the New Year and Holly Christmas reception held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

President Serzh Sargsyan participated today at the New Year and Holly Christmas reception held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The President of Armenia congratulated the staff of the Ministry on the approaching holidays, thanked for the works carried out by the Ministry in the passing year and wish health, happiness, and success to all employees of the Ministry and their families.

In his congratulatory remarks the President recapped year 2015 and spoke about the achievements as well as shortcomings, difficulties and challenges, spoke about programs and expectations in year 2016.

President noted that year 2015 has been memorable not only for the citizens of Armenia but for the entire Armenian nation since it has been full of events and from that point of view quite an intense year - both in Armenia and in many countries of the world multiple events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide have been held with dignity and on a high level. Among these activities the President of Armenia highlighted the role played by the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Serzh Sargsyan spoke also about other events which have been important for the country related to Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union, start of the negotiations with the European Union on a new legal document and stressed that realistic decisions on the engagement in the these integration processes are very important for Armenia’s future development.

The President mentioned the NK peace process and noted with regret that this year the negotiations have not registered any progress, however negotiations go on and in the coming year it will be necessary to double efforts on that direction.

Noting that next year the Ministry of Foreign Affair will move to a new administrative building, where working conditions are more comfortable, the President of Armenia expressed confidence that in the new year, the employees of the Ministry will perform their activities with great vigor, dedication, with new ideas and projects, armed with new knowledge, because no country can become successful without them.
