The newly appointed Ambassador of the Netherlands presented his credentials to the President of Armenia

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Johannes Douma (residence in Tbilisi) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President congratulated the Ambassador on his nomination and wished him success in his diplomatic tenure in our country. Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of frequent high-level reciprocal visits and meetings in the deepening of the Armenian-Dutch political dialogue, which, according to the President, will open new opportunities for the development of the economic cooperation as well. Concurring that economic and trade relations represent an important segment of the bilateral agenda, and that among the EU states the Netherlands remain one of Armenia’s leading trade partners, the President of Armenia and the Ambassador of the Netherlands underlined that it is necessary to fully utilized the existing great potential in that area.

The President of Armenia thanked the government of Holland for its continuous support aimed at Armenia’s economic development.

At the meeting, the parties spoke also about the mutually beneficial cooperation of the two countries in the international organizations, and noted the role of the Netherlands, as a founding member of the European Union, in the development of the Armenia-EU cooperation.

Serzh Sargsyan and Ambassador Douma exchanged views on the process of negotiations aimed at the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh issue.
