President received the Minister of Defense of Serbia Bratislav Gašić

President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation headed by the Minister of Defense of Serbia Bratislav Gašić.

The President hailed the current level of the Armenian-Serbian interstate relations and underscored that the political dialogue between the two friendly states has intensified in recent years, trade relations have become more active, the legal framework has been expanded, and cooperation in the framework in international organization has deepened. Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of the agreement on Cooperation in the Area of Defense between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia signed in the framework of Minister Gašić’s visit to Armenia, which according to the President, has supplemented the bilateral cooperation agenda and created a base for close cooperation between the defense structures of the two states.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that the centuries-long Armenian-Serbian relations have had many manifestation of friendship which is based on the historical and cultural ties, similar spiritual values and mutual sympathy. President Serzh Sargsyan said that the Armenian people attach great importance to the presence of the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić at the events dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The President of Armenia underlined that it was a unique display of friendship and solidarity which the Armenian nation will always remember and appreciate.

At the meeting, the President of Armenia and Minister of Defense of Serbia discussed the bilateral agenda, as well as current issues pertaining to the international and regional security.
