President attended the official ceremony of inauguration of the Depository of Manuscripts in Gandzasar
President of Armenia and Commander-in-Chief Serzh Sargsyan in the framework of his working visit to NKR on November 21 together with President of Artsakh Bako Sahakian attended the meeting held with the participation of the highest military command of the two Armenian states. At the meeting discussed were issues pertaining to the bilateral cooperation.
The President participated also at the home warming ceremony for the residential buildings with 176 apartments, constructed for the officers in the special compound at the capital of Nagorno Karabakh, as well as opening of the gym at the headquarters of the Defense Army, and the commencement ceremony of the canteen for the servicemen of a military unit. In the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, the President of Armenia decorated a group of servicemen for their diligent work.
Later, President Sargsyan in Gandzasar attended the official ceremony of inauguration of the Mesrop Mashtots Depository of Manuscripts - Gandzasar – a scientific and cultural center in Stepanakert, which constitutes a branch of Matenadaran.
The center has scientific and museum sections, the auditorium for scientific conferences and various cultural events, a library, and a reading hall. The newly opened exhibition hall presents over 100 Artsakhi manuscripts dating from early Middle Ages to modern times, unique originals and copies of the documents related to the history of Artsakh, as well as ancient books. Works on the creation of this exhibition started seven years ago and according to the responsible officials, exhibition related works will go on.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the Depository, there took place the official presentation of the books “Art of Miniature in Artsakh” and “Script Centers of Artsakh” created by employees of Matenadaran. Serzh Sargsyan presented to the scientific and cultural center of Gandzasar the Gulistan Gospel of XII-XIII centuries.
The premise of Matenadaran-Gandzasar was renovated through the funds provided by the Pyunik All-Armenian Fund for the Human Resources Development. The branch is a structural component of the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, and its full-fledged functioning will be ensured through the engagement of Matenadaran’s scientific and technological potential.
