President Serzh Sargsyan visits Megerian Carpet OJSC

President Serzh Sargsyan and Mrs. Rita Sargsyan visited today Megerian Carpet OJSC which produces handmade rugs in various designs and thicknesses. Among the company’s main goals is the preservation of Armenian cultural values across the world, their restoration and reproduction. In recent years the company has also been engaged in the restoration and renovation of antique handmade carpets.

During the tour at the Hovhannes and Noyemi Megerian Museum of Armenian Handmade Carpets, Armenia’s president and Mrs. Rita Sargsyan familiarized themselves with antique carpets from different modern Armenian regions, as well as from Nagorno-Karabakh and Western Armenia, watched the production process at the carpet making section. They were also presented new handmade carpets displayed at Megerian Carpet’s galleries.

The company operates in different countries of the world, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, India, and Romania. In Armenia, Megerian Carpet OJSC started its activities in 2000. It has reopened the previous 20 production branches in different regions of Armenian and in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Megerian Carpet’s executives, it is expected to re-launch two more Armenian branches by the end of the year, which will allow increasing both the production capacity and the number of employees.
