President receives Head of EU Delegation to RA, Ambassador Traian Hristea
President Serzh Sargsyan received today Ambassador Traian Hristea, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to the Republic of Armenia (RA), at the competition of his diplomatic duties in our country.
The president thanked Ambassador Hristea for the work done during his tenure and for establishing effective cooperation with Armenia’s government, parliamentary factions and civil society. Stressing that the EU delegation plays a major role in the dynamic development of Armenia-European Union relations, Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that the next EU ambassador to Armenia will fulfill that crucial mission with same energy, thus bringing his contribution to the further deepening of RA-EU ties.
Armenia’s president wished Traian Hristea success and new achievements in his future activities. The president expressed satisfaction with the fact that during the last four years of Traian Hristea’s tenure, our country has, despite geopolitical instability, closely and fruitfully cooperated with the European Union and European institutions, thereby broadening its cooperation with the EU and promoting active collaboration in multifarious areas.
“I hold that we have worked honestly, sincerely and openly and have been able to make the most of our cooperation during this period, making a long journey and garnering considerable experience for further collaboration,” said President Serzh Sargsyan underscoring that Armenia is committed to continuing reforms with the help of the EU.
Ambassador Hristea thanked the president for the recognition of his work and for the kind words, noting that first of all he perceives them as words of acknowledgment in connection with bilateral relations between the EU and the RA.
Ambassador Hristea said that the effective cooperation and the active dialogue at all possible levels are also conditioned by the values shared by Armenia and the European Union. He reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to continuing and promoting close cooperation and dialogue with Armenia to achieve tangible results with reforms.
Lastly, Traian Hristea assured the president that wherever he goes, Armenia will always remain in his heart, and noted that he is leaving with some best and warm memories of Armenia.
