Germany’s newly-appointed ambassador to Armenia presents his credentials to president
Matthias Kiesler, the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia, today handed over his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The president congratulated Ambassador Kiesler and wished him success in fulfilling his diplomatic duties in our country, stressing that there are a solid foundation and good preconditions for it.
Serzh Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the fact that a retrospective look at the course of Armenian-German interstate relations having more than a 20-year history shows that those relations have undergone continued development.
The interlocutors agreed that Armenia and Germany conduct regular political dialogue, actively promote inter-parliamentary ties, and that the two countries should make concerted efforts to make use of their considerable potential of trade and economic relations, taking into account the fact that among the EU countries Germany is one of the RA’s primary trade partners in terms of commodity circulation.
The Armenian president thanked Germany’s government for the continued support of Armenia’s development. Apart from political and economic relations, the parties attached importance to promoting collaboration in the areas of culture, education and science, defense and in a number of other areas.
Armenia’s president also highly appreciated FRG President Joachim Gauck’s speech on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide made on April 23 this year, stressing once again that it was a confident speech made by a strong head of a strong state.
Newly-appointed Ambassador Matthias Kiesler assured the president that during his tenure he will try his best to contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries and to the inclusion of new collaboration spheres in bilateral relations.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on regional issues and challenges.
