President receives Japanese ambassador to Armenia Chikahito Harada

President Serzh Sargsyan today received Chikahito Harada, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, at the completion of his diplomatic service in our country.

The president congratulated Ambassador Harada for his contribution to the development of Armenian-Japanese relations during his tenure and for his successful activities. Serzh Sargsyan said that it is characteristic that during Chikahito Harada’s diplomatic service the Japanese embassy opened in Armenia and the president’s visit to Japan took place in 2012 which gave fresh impetus to the development of bilateral relations and the broadening of a cooperative agenda.

The interlocutors also expressed their satisfaction with the intensification of inter-parliamentary dialogue between Armenia and Japan, particularly with the activities carried out by the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups. The RA president and the Japanese ambassador agreed that the dynamic development of relations and the expansion of a cooperative agenda inevitably lead to the improvement of the bilateral legal framework which they agreed will also stimulate trade and economic relations.

President Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Japanese government for supporting our country in implementing development programs, as well as for its cooperation within the frame of international organizations based on mutual respect.

At the end of the meeting, the president wished Ambassador Harada success and underscored that although the ambassador has completed his tenure, he will surely remain friends with Armenia and the Armenian people.

Chikahito Harada assured that after completing his diplomatic service in our country he will keep on trying his best and will support Japans’ first resident ambassador to Armenia in his efforts to further strengthen Armenian-Japanese interstate relations and enhance friendship between the two peoples.
