President Serzh Sargsyan meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin
President Serzh Sargsyan today held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin who has arrived in Armenia to participate in the commemorative event devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
The Armenian President thanked to President Putin for standing beside our people in Yerevan on this day which is of great significance to the Armenian people. Serzh Sargsyan also expressed his special thanks to the Russian President for the words said in his speech two days ago and today at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex which touched the spirit of each Armenian. President Serzh Sargsyan stressed that both he and Armenian citizens consider that his words are those of the one who are the head of an allied and friendly state. “Today you mentioned in your speech that as far back as 100 years ago, the Russian Federation recognized and considered together with the French and British governments the actions taken by the Ottoman government towards Armenians as a crime against humanity and as a crime that must be punished. This proves the consistency of the policy pursued by Russia. I am really very happy about it. I am very grateful for you that are you here with us. Welcome to Armenia once again,” said President Serzh Sargsyan.
In his speech, the RF President thanked to the RA President for his invitation and stressed once again that there is a special relationship between Armenia and Russia, the Armenian and the Russian peoples, as well as between the other peoples of the Russian Federation. “All that has very deep roots. We always were and have always been close allies, and it will continue to be so. Today, I am not going to talk about politics, it is by itself clear, we support each other within the frames of international organizations. Our foreign ministries work closely, we have been developing our relations in the sphere of integration processes, and I am very glad that Armenia has joined the Eurasian Economic Union. Our Economic relations, too, have been developing dynamically. Despite all the difficulties faced the last year, our trade keeps growing, and it is very important to continue in the same vein. Russian capital investments continue to rise in Armenia, comprising 40 percent of all foreign investments. I am very pleased to be here with you today and have the opportunity to talk about the entire range of our collaboration sectors. Thank you for the invitation,” said RF President Vladimir Putin.
