Uruguay’s newly-appointed ambassador to Armenia presents his credentials to President
The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to the Republic of Armenia Juan Ojeda today presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated Ambassador Ojeda on starting his diplomatic mission in our country and wished him success. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that during his tenure, the newly-appointed ambassador will do his best to strengthen and develop ties between Armenia and Uruguay, ensuring the fulfillment of agreements made at a high level within the framework of the Armenian President’s state visit to Uruguay in July this year.
The parties underlined that the friendly relationship between Armenia and Uruguay is rooted in mutual respect and trust. The two countries have developed a rather comprehensive legal base which gives them the chance to actively cooperate in the spheres of mutual concern and develop close interstate ties.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of inter-parliamentary collaboration and Armenian-Uruguayan cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Serzh Sargsyan underscored that the Armenian people feel deep love and respect toward the friendly country of Uruguay, the first country to recognize the Armenian Genocide, and are profoundly grateful to it for granting asylum to thousand Armenians having survived the genocide, as well as for giving them the opportunity to live a dignified life.
Ambassador Juan Ojeda noted that Uruguayans know the friendly people of Armenia perfectly well, being rather well-informed about Armenia. According to him, the Armenian community which enjoys great respect in Uruguay has been making its contribution to the development of the country and acts as a friendship bridge between the two countries and peoples.
