President receives Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius
President Serzh Sargsyan today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius who has arrived in Armenia on an official visit.
At the meeting the interlocutors express satisfaction with the fact that over the last years Armenian-Lithuanian relations have been dynamically developing and year after year their cooperation in various spheres has been deepening. President Serzh Sargsyan and Linas Linkevicius attached great importance to active reciprocal visits and contacts in that context warmly recalling the Lithuanian Foreign Minister’s visit to Armenia in March last year and Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Lithuania as Minister of Defense which the parties agreed laid down the foundation of strong relationships in the defense and security spheres paving the way for further regular contacts between the two countries’ defense ministries.
Talking about upcoming cooperation programs, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius noted that he planned to establish an intergovernmental commission in the near future to actively develop relations in the economic sphere. He assured that the Armenian-Lithuanian business forum to be held next month can set a broad and meaningful agenda for collaboration.
The Lithuanian Foreign Minister underscored that his country has supported Armenia in promoting dialogue with the European Union, and hearing the Armenian President’s words about Armenia’s devotion to European values, he believed there are many common programs in this cooperation format as well and that Lithuania, as a European Union member country, can play a helpful role in further developing Armenia-European Union relations.
At the meeting the Armenian President and Lithuania's Foreign Minister also exchanged views on current international and regional issues and challenges and touched upon recent developments around the peace process of the NKR conflict settlement.
