President Serzh Sargsyan meets with “Together - 2014” forum participants
On August 24, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the tent camp of “Together 2014” pan-Armenian educational forum, organized by “Together” youth movement on the territory of Sevan National Park.
Held for the sixth consecutive year now, this year the camp was attended by 500 young people from Yerevan and the provinces. The President toured the camp, talking to the participants to learn of their daily routine, living conditions and the events held so far.
The President was informed that the campers have developed a hectic and exciting agenda, with daily lectures held on various topics, different public figures hosted, sports competitions organized and so on.
Serzh Sargsyan answered several questions asked by the campers, which related to our country’s foreign policy, present challenges, youth affairs, national defense and a number of other issues. In particular, concerning Armenia-Turkey relations and Yerevan’s official position on the question at issue, the President said that the Turkish government has invited Armenia to attend the President-elect’s inauguration ceremony, and that most probably our country will participate at the level of its Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Serzh Sargsyan also said that the Foreign Minister will be informed whether the new President of Turkey is going to visit the Tsitsernakaberd memorial during the upcoming commemorations of the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, 2015, and see first hand the Eternal Flame-bound vast human procession, which has been growing in intensity over many decades.
As to when the Armenian-Turkish border will be opened, the President said it was hard tell, though he stressed that Armenia’s desire is to see it open as soon as possible.
