President Serzh Sargsyan visits Gegharkunik marz

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan made a working visit to Gegharkunik marz. At first, the Armenian President visited a newly-opened recreational complex in Tsovasar community, familiarized with the recreation and leisure services of Tsovasar complex.

Within the framework of his working visit to the marz the president familiarized with the construction works of the road from the Sevan-Gavar highway to Lchap community. The construction of this road, which is one of the RA President’s pre-election promises, is to finish on September 1 this year. The Armenian president was told that the main part of the land works had been done and the gravel base had been already made at the beginning of the road which will be followed by the construction works of an asphalt concrete layer. President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting with the dwellers of Lchap community, who talked to the president about their concerns. They placed great importance to the road construction and stressed that the main road to the village had not been renovated for a long time thereby hindering the road traffic.

The Armenian President familiarized with the construction project of the marz center Gavar’s central square. The works started on June this year, a water pipe system has already been laid, the previous fountain system has been deinstalled and the netting and concreting of the water pool has been carried out. The president was presented that the renovated square will have a green and irrigable area and a boulevard paved with basalt slabs, benches, luminaries and a modern colorful musical fountain system will be installed.

The Armenian President visited the regional branch of the Chess Academy in Gavar which is located at the building of the Teaching Center. Serzh Sargsyan familiarized with the renovated part of the Center’s first floor allocated to Gavar’s regional branch of the Chess Academy where chess lessons for Gavar’s chess-loving pupils will be conducted beginning from the new school year.

Later on, Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony of Lake Sevan-2014 international chess tournament at the Cultural House of Martuni town organized by the Chess Academy of Armenia together with the Armenian Chess Federation. 10 strong grandmasters from different countries are participating in the 16th Lake Sevan-2014 international chess tournament.
