President Serzh Sargsyan receives Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Vladimir Yakunin, Chairman of South Caucasus Railway CJSC Board of Directors and President of Russian Railways OJSC, which has assumed the trust management of the Armenian railway.
The interlocutors emphasized with satisfaction the high level of the Armenian-Russian relations and noted that the cooperation in transport is one of the important components of the bilateral strategic partnership.
At the meeting, the Armenian President and Vladimir Yakunin discussed the current status of the Armenian railway, its development prospects, as well as issues concerning the fulfillment of the obligations assumed by Russian Railways under the concession contract.
The president of the company having been assumed the trust management of the Armenian Railway presented to Serzh Sargsyan the investments in modernization and technical refurbishment works, the current works and also touched upon general activities of South Caucasus Railway CJSC, its problems and development programs. President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the role of Vladimir Yakunin in developing Armenia’s transport infrastructure and consistently implementing the works stipulated by the concession contract and underscored that Armenia is ready to continue efforts at improving that infrastructure and bring to life new mutually beneficial joint projects.
