President held meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians, Catholicos of Great House of Cilicia and Catholicos Patriarch of House of Cilicia

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting with the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I and the Catholicos Patriarch of the House of Cilicia Nerses Petros XIX.

The president, the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia and the Catholicos Patriarch of the House of Cilicia discussed issues concerning the close cooperation between the state and the Armenian churches, as well as issues pertaining to the homeland and the Armenian Diaspora.

At the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the national preservation role of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the Armenian national life and the everyday efforts of all the dioceses, parishes and structures to deal with Pan-Armenian issues. The involvement of the Armenian Apostolic and Armenian Catholic churches in the activities of the State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the activities of the Armenian churches to address vital national issues in the Diaspora and on international and inter-church platforms were underscored.

In addition, the President of Armenia, the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I and the Catholicos Patriarch of the House of Cilicia Nerses Petros XIX discussed issues pertaining to our compatriots found themselves in a difficult situation as a result of the Syrian crisis, as well as issues pertaining to rendering assistance to them.

The interlocutors agreed that the unity of Armenian people is the basis for achieving the welfare of all Armenians spread all over the world and responding to their challenges and that they will keep on making joint efforts at dealing with national issues.
