President received prominent musician and Music Director of Berlin State Opera Daniel Barenboim

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the prominent musician and Music Director of Berlin State Opera Daniel Barenboim who has visited Armenia on the occasion of the concert to be given by Berlin State Orchestra in the framework of Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival this evening.

The President of Armenia welcomed the celebrated guest to our country. Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated the initiative of Yerevan Perspectives Festival which, in spite of having limited opportunities, has done its best for years to introduce the greatest masters of world music to Armenian spectators. According to the president, it also gives famous people a good opportunity to visit Armenia, to join the age-old history and culture of Armenian people and to become friends with them. The president also welcomed and highly appreciated the fact that the well-known Israeli musician Daniel Barenboim – the citizen of Argentina and Israel and the honorary citizen of Palestine and Spain – is engaged in other activities which are the fight for peace and justice in the world.

Daniel Barenboim stressed the importance of the works carried out by Yerevan Perspectives Festival as well, thanked the president for his words of appreciation. The eminent musician underscored that he has a special feeling arriving in Armenia for the first time because he has met numerous Armenians in his lifetime but has never been to their fatherland, so he is very happy to be given this opportunity.
