President received delegation headed by the Chairman of the Armenia-France friendship group Rene Rouquet

 

President Serzh Sargsyan received today a delegation of the National Assembly of France headed by the Chairman of the Armenia-France friendship group Rene Rouquet.

The President hailed and stressed the importance of the dedicated and consistent work of the parliamentary group headed by Mr. Rouquet aimed at the strengthening of the Armenian-French friendship not only in the French Parliament, but also in the municipal and regional councils and deepening of cooperation in international settings.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that more than twenty years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and France have been marked with the growing Armenian-French relations in every area, particularly, with regard to a regular political dialogue, active interparliamentary relations, close cooperation among over 30 regions and towns of Armenia and France, economic, as well as cultural, educational and other ties.

The President of Armenia and French parliamentarians concurred that interparliamentary cooperation is a pivotal element of the multifaceted interstate agenda which has an important role in the relations of the two countries.

Serzh Sargsyan welcomed with pleasure Mrs. Valérie Boyer - a member of Rene Rouquet’s delegation who has visited Armenia and Artsakh for a number of times.

The President highlighted the fact that French parliamentarians – senators and deputes - during their visits to Armenia visit also the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, which, according to the President, is a good opportunity to learn first-hand about the situation in the region and to get comprehensive information regarding the NK peace process and historical roots of the conflict. Serzh Sargsyan highly valued also the Circle of Friendship with Artsakh created last March.

The President of Armenia and Chairman of the Armenia-France friendship group exchanged also views on pressing regional and international issues.
