President Serzh Sargsyan received Uruguay's Minister of Tourism and Sport Liliam Kechichian

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Minister of Tourism and Sport of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Liliam Kechichian.

The President welcomed our compatriot, member of friendly Uruguay’s government in Armenia and noted that we are proud to see our compatriots living abroad occupying such high positions. According to the President, it is the best proof of the fact and Armenians, while preserving their national identity, at the same time actively integrate into the society of a given country and bring their considerable input to the development of that country. During her visit to Armenia, Minister Kechichian is accompanied by another official of the Armenian descent Raffi Hunanian, the Tourism Director of the Montevideo Regional Agency for Economic Development and Integration.

At the meeting discussed were opportunities for further strengthening and development of the mutually beneficial cooperation in different areas, including in the area of tourism and sport. President Sargsyan expressed hope that Liliam Kechichian’s experience of many years in that area and information on Armenia’s potential in the area of tourism gathered during this visit, will promote active cooperation of the two countries in that area.

The parties noted with satisfaction that geographical distance is no obstacle for the steady development of the friendly Armenian-Uruguayan relations which stared after Armenia regained her independence.

At the meeting, the interlocutors stressed the importance of expanding the legal field which will further enhance cooperation between the two countries.
