President received the Mayor of Riga, Chairman of the Riga City Council Nil Ushakov

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Mayor of Riga, Chairman of the Riga City Council Nil Ushakov.

The President welcomed visit to Armenia of the delegation headed by the Mayor of Riga. At the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction that in last three years, the authorities of Yerevan and Riga have established close relations, while the agreement on declaring Yerevan and Riga sister sites signed this year has created strong foundations for the development of cooperation between the two capitals in different areas.

The President welcomed also the participation of Riga’s Mayor to International Conference of the Mayors of the Capitals of CE member states. According to Serzh Sargsyan, for Armenia, which is presiding in the Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe, the formation and development of the local authorities and expansion of decentralized cooperation are also very important.

The President wished success to Mayor Ushakov in his daily activities as well as in the deepening of the friendly ties between Yerevan and Riga.
