President Serzh Sargsyan received the world famous opera singer Montserrat Caballé

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the world famous opera singer Montserrat Caballé.

The President of Armenia welcomed the celebrated opera diva in Armenia, noted that he was aware of the difficulties related to her visit and expressed gratitude to the renowned singer that she nevertheless had overcome all that and visited Armenia as well as Artsakh which was a great and noble enterprise.

At the meeting, President of Armenia endowed Montserrat Caballé with a high state award – the Order of Honor, for her outstanding contribution to the world’s musical culture. The President underscored that he was greatly pleased and certain in awarding one of Armenia’s most distinguished awards to a singer who through her presence, inimitable voice and art has honored almost every best and famous stage in the world and has a huge army of admirers.

The world famous Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé accepted the award with gratitude, which in her words is a token of admiration and warm feelings. She spoke with reverence and love of Armenia and the Armenian people, our centuries-long heroic history and culture. “Armenia is an island of peace and love. You’ve got a wonderful country and the nation of immense spiritual power,” Montserrat Caballé said.

The celebrated singer noted that she was leaving Armenia with unforgettable impressions and was sure that even though this visit is coming to an end, it will have a continuation.
