President Serzh Sargsyan received the President of PACE Jean-Claude Mignon

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Jean-Claude Mignon.

Noting that he was glad to welcome the President of PACE to Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of Jean-Claude Mignon’s visit to our country, particularly, since it is taking place in the framework of the first events conducted by Armenia in her capacity as the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers – PACE Bureau and Standing Commission sessions. The President said that the assumption of the Chairmanship by Armenia after twelve years of membership to the CE is a great honor and responsibility for our country. He noted that in these twelve years, Armenia has traveled a long road and now is carrying out active work in the framework of the Organization.

At the meeting, the parties spoke also about the process of implementation of the obligations assumed by Armenia related to the membership to the Council of Europe, implemented and ongoing reforms in a number of areas and priorities of Armenia’s Chairmanship in the PACE Ministers’ Council. They also exchanged views on the NK peace process and situation in the region.
