President Serzh Sargsyan received the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Igor Lukšić

 

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro Igor Lukšić.

The President welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro in our country and noted that his visit provides a good opportunity to form the agenda of the Armenian-Montenegrin relations, to outline the areas of cooperation and priorities, to exchange views on the regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The President of Armenia and Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro underscored that there are no impediments for the development of the Armenian-Montenegrin relations; on the contrary, the two countries have many similarities which may serve a good base for the development of bilateral cooperation. Igor Lukšić welcomed the fact that the capitals of the two countries have already been cooperating as sister-towns.

In the context of developing the political dialogue, the two sides viewed as useful arrangement of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Montenegro, strengthening of interparliamentary ties and establishment toward that end of the friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, during the meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, the parties have reached agreement on that issue.

The interlocutors stressed also the importance of the works aimed at the improvement of the legal field which will considerably promote and deepen cooperation in a number of areas, particularly in the economic area.

President Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the two countries will also establish active cooperation in the framework of international organizations.

At the meeting, the parties discussed also the current situation in the region, probable developments, and the NK peace process.
