President Serzh Sargsyan received the Mayor of Bucharest Sorin Mircea Oprescu
President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Mayor of Bucharest (Romania) Sorin Mircea Oprescu who has arrived to Yerevan to participate in the ceremony of inauguration of the President of Armenia.
The President of Armenia stressed the importance of capital Bucharest in the development of the Armenian-Romanian cooperation and strengthening of the centuries-long friendship of the two nations. President Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the Romanian authorities and among them to the well-known political figure Sorin Mircea Oprescu for the considerate and benevolent attitude toward the Armenian community.
Mayor Oprescu spoke with reverence about Armenians noting that in his country Armenians and Romanians, who live side by side, are getting along perfectly. He said that as the Mayor of Bucharest he is interested in further strengthening friendship between the two peoples. He assures that he would spare no effort to establish and develop cooperation between Yerevan and Bucharest, enhance Romanian investments in the economy of Yerevan, and to implement mutually beneficial joint programs. Noting that there is nothing more credible than the witness’s account, the Mayor of Bucharest noted that observing Yerevan he’s been impressed by the activities of the Mayor, his practical approaches in the resolution of urban problems and development programs. He expressed hope the results of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two capitals will be revealed soon, contributing to the development of Yerevan and Bucharest and promoting prosperity of their citizens.
