President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran has arrived to Armenia to participate at the ceremony of inauguration of the newly elected President of the Republic of Armenia.

The President welcomed the guest in our country and underscored that Armenia highly values and attaches importance to the relations with the reliable neighbor and friend – the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the bilateral economic cooperation in a number of areas, expressed satisfaction with the volume of the turnover between the two countries and highlighted the importance of the works aimed at the implementation of the joint projects in the energy and transport areas, including the construction of the third high-voltage transmission line and the timely operation of the hydro-power stations on Arax river.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi conveyed to President Serzh Sargsyan best wishes from the President of the IRI Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the government and the people of Iran in the fulfillment of his high and responsible duties. In his turn, President Serzh Sargsyan wished success to the people of Iran in conducting presidential elections in June.

The President of Armenia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran exchanged also views on the regional developments.
