Serzh Sargsyan received the President of the European People’s Party Wilfred Martens

The President of Armenia, Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received today the President of the European People’s Party Wilfred Martens. The President of EPP has arrived to Yerevan to participate at the Summit of the leaders of the Eastern Partnership member states.

At the meeting, the parties underlined with satisfaction that even though the Republican Party of Armenia is a relatively new member of the EPP, it nevertheless in a year, which passed since its admission, has unfolded an active and efficient cooperation in the framework of the EPP and today is hosting in Yerevan the Summit of the leaders of the EPP Eastern Partnership member states.

President Serzh Sargsyan and EPP President Wilfred Martens said that such meetings provide good opportunity for discussing Armenia’s progress on its road towards Eurointegration and exchanging views on the strengthening the party-to-party ties.

Along with the accession of three Armenian parties – the RPA, Orinats Erkir and Heritage to the European People’s Party, among other significant events of this year Mr. Martens noted the free and proper organization and conduct of the parliamentary elections in Armenia.

Serzh Sargsyan and Wilfred Martens spoke also about the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia and development of cooperation in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
