President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov has arrived to Yerevan on official visit
At the invitation of President Serzh Sargsyan, today delegation headed by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov arrived to Yerevan on official visit.
The official ceremony of welcoming the President of Turkmenistan took place at the Zvartnots International Airport after which the Presidents of the two countries held a tête-à-tête meeting followed by the negotiations in the extended format.
After the negotiations, the Parties signed documents aimed at the expansion and development of the cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas. In particular, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov signed a Joint Declaration. Signed were also “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan on the mutual allocation of land in Turkmenistan for the Embassy of Armenia and allocation of land in the Republic of Armenia for the Embassy of Turkmenistan,” “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan on Air Communication,” “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan on Scientific Cooperation,” “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Seismic Protection Area,” “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Area of Veterinary Medicine,” and “Agreement between the Ministry Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia and Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Area of Agriculture.”

Joint Declaration
by the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov
At the invitation of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov conducted an official visit to the Republic of Armenia on November 29-30, 2012.
In the atmosphere of friendship, mutual trust and complete understanding, the leaders of the two states discussed the current stage of bilateral relations and prospects of their development, exchanged views on the regional and international issues of mutual interest and expressed readiness to further deepen the Armenian-Turkmen relations.
The Presidents discussed the process of implementation of the agreements reached earlier, underscored strong dynamics of the development of the interstate relations based on the principles of equality, friendship, mutual respect and reciprocal consideration of each other’s interests.
The Parties reiterated that agreements reached on the highest level created a solid foundation for the further deepening of bilateral ties in the political, trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural areas and humanitarian cooperation.
Exchanging views on the current international issues, the Presidents reiterated closeness or concurrence of the positions of the Parties on the most important global policy issues and underscored mutual desire of the Republic of Armenia and Turkmenistan to contribute to the strengthening of peace, security and stability on the regional and international scale.
In this context, the Presidents of the two states stressed the necessity of cooperation and coordination of efforts in the framework of international organizations, primarily in the Organization of the United Nations.
The Heads of two states underscored the importance of further development of cooperation in fight with such supranational threats as terrorism, religious extremism, organized crime and drug trafficking in the bilateral format as well as in the framework of regional and international organizations.
The Presidents stressed the importance of enhancing the bilateral relations, development of different forms of cooperation, search for prospective areas of cooperation, better initialization of the opportunities provided by the bilateral political consultations.
Discussing issues pertinent to the trade and economic ties, the Presidents noted the importance of interaction in that area and strengthening and expansion of cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and consideration of each other’s interests.
With this regard, the Presidents affirmed the importance of the works of the Armenian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and highlighted the necessity of the efficient use of existing potential and opportunities of the two countries aimed at the deepening and expansion of the bilateral cooperation.
Speaking about the priorities of the Armenian-Turkmen economic cooperation, the Presidents of the two states mentioned energy, transport, textile production, and trade. Stressed was also the importance of establishing closer relations in the areas of agriculture and industrial processing of agricultural products.
The Presidents expressed readiness to organize in the Republic of Armenia and Turkmenistan national exhibitions with the participation of the business circles of the two countries, business forums, and other exhibitions.
Noting mutual interest towards the development of relations in the humanitarian area, the Presidents reiterated the importance of further strengthening the Armenian-Turkmen cooperation in the areas of education, science, culture, and arts.
The Parties expressed mutual desire to conduct regular consultation on different levels related to the issues of interest in bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The Presidents of the two states underlined with satisfaction that constructive and efficient negotiations held by the Parties, as well as documents signed in the framework of the visit foster traditionally friendly relations and mutual beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Turkmenistan.
The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Armenian people for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation and invited the President of Armenia to conduct an official visit to Turkmenistan at the time of his convenience. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The date of the visit will be agreed through the diplomatic channels.
