President Serzh Sargsyan met with the members of the Public Council

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the members of the Public Council.
Present at the meeting were also the RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetian, Chairman of the National Commission of Television and Radio Grigor Amalian, Chairman of the Council of the Public TV and Radio Company Alexan Harutyunian, and Chief Architect of Yerevan Narek Sarkissian, who presented clarifications on the reported issues and policies conducted in the relevant areas.

In the framework of the agenda items, presented were proposals of the RA Public Council aimed at the improvement of the Armenian TV programs, a draft concept for the strategy of the development in the Republic of Armenia of the civil society organizations, as well as issues related to the switch in Ararat valley from the traditional line production system of fish breeding to the semi-closed water consumption systems.

Among the discussed issues mentioned was the necessity to have a law on RA Public Council. By the instructions of the President of Armenia, a working group will be established to prepare a draft of the law which will comprise also representatives of the RA National Assembly and the Government.

With regard to the improvement of the Armenian TV programs, President Sargsyan was familiarized with the proposals of the Public Council related to the policies of the Public TV, replacement on Public TV morning commercials with social ads, expansion of the authority of the National Commission of Television and Radio, precise formulation of the requirements to be presented to the TV companies and a number of other issues pertinent to the development of this area. The President accepted the proposal of the Public Council to create a working group which will comprise representatives of TV, science, culture and social areas and who will work together to develop the program of reformation.
The next issue raised in the framework of the discussions was related to the efficient management of the water resources, particularly to the solution of the issues of the industrial recovery of the groundwater. It was decided to instruct the Government to develop together with the Public Council a pertinent program of action.

It was also decided to present the draft proposal on the strategic concept for the development of the RA civil society organizations to the Government for consideration.

At the meeting with President Sargsyan, the members of the Public Council discussed also other issues of public concern.
