President Sargsyan participated at the opening of the air defense unit located in the southern part of the Republic

President Serzh Sargsyan concluded his working visit to the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.

This morning, President Sargsyan participated at the opening ceremony of the air defense unit equipped with the up-to-date armaments which is located in the southern part of the Republic.

The President of Republic congratulated those present at the opening of the military unit and thanked the troops for excellent service.

“The Armed Forces are called upon to protect our people; however there are units in the Armed Forces whose activities are directly linked to the security of our people. The air defense unit is undoubtedly one of such units,” President Serzh Sargsyan said.

The President noted that those who participated in the military actions during the Artsakh liberation war would certainly remember that because of the outstanding performance of the Armenian air defense units, the opponent was not able to inflict any considerable damage on the Armenian side, while our air defense system wrecked the air force of the foe.

According to the President of Armenia, the opening of the unit built in line with contemporary requirements and equipped with the modern weaponry signifies the future of all our military units.
