President Serzh Sargsyan met with the students who have won fellowships from the Luys Foundation
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the students who have won fellowships from the Luys Foundation. Present at the meeting was also the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sarkissian.
The President of Armenia congratulated those who will be receiving the Lyus Foundation fellowships for the academic year 2012-2013 on their admission to the leading universities of the world and on being awarded the fellowships of the Foundation. He wished them every success in their studies and lives and underscored that success of our country starts with the success of each and every individual.
The President stressed the importance of the activities of the Foundation aimed at strengthening the ties between the alumni of the Luys Foundation and the beneficiaries of the Foundation who have been recently admitted to the best educational institutions of the world. Serzh Sargsyan underlined that collective force is much more prominent than the strength and abilities of an individual.
President Sargsyan highlighted also the importance of the young peoples’ desire to develop programs in Armenia and utilize their knowledge and skills in Motherland. “My meetings with the Fellows of the Luys Foundation have become traditional and to be honest, they are inspiring. Every time, these meetings prove that regardless of where in the world is an Armenian student, he or she is strongly connected to Motherland,” President Serzh Sargsyan said.
According to the President of Armenia, the objective of the educational program of the Luys Foundation is quite clear: to make world achievements and discoveries available for the representatives of our nation, making thus these achievements serve our people, i.e. to bring them to Armenia, to large Armenian communities abroad while in turn to make our input to the development of global civilization and science. “Since the very creation of the Armenian statehood, we were always sending numerous Armenian young people to the world’s educational center for studies and that process, which has been going on for millennia, became a very serious impetus for the development of our own culture, science, education and civilization in general.
I am glad that in modern times, the number of our young people studying abroad at the best world universities is growing. When we launched this program, a several dozen young people were studying in the world’s best twenty educational institutions. Thanks God, only this year 126 students were admitted to ten best universities of the world, and 74 continue their studies for the second year. In total, we have 200 students, 90 of them from Armenia. It means, we already have a good and solid representation which we can be proud of. I want you to be assured and assure all those young people who have a desire that they will have the opportunity to study in the best scientific and educational centers of the world. We will do everything to further expand the educational program of the Luys Foundation. We view it as a part of Armenia’s future,” the President of Armenia said and underscored that the Luys Foundation’s educational program is constantly following the subsequent activities of its fellowship recipients and is ready to assist them in their endeavors.
At the meeting, the fellows of the Foundation presented their works implemented in the framework of the “Let’s Develop Armenia” program of the Foundation, discussed opportunities to implement other programs and initiatives. Serzh Sargsyan conversed also with the students on the topics that interested them. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Armenia handed to the new students their Luys Foundation fellowship certificates.
