President Serzh Sargsyan met with over two dozen young scientists
Today, at the Youth Foundation of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan met with over two dozen young scientists.
Not long ago, at the meeting held in Tsakhkadzor with some of them, President Sargsyan promised to make meetings regular. According to the President, such meetings provide a good opportunity to discuss with young scientists in a relaxed atmosphere issues related to the use of the young specialists’ potential for developing science in our country, speak about opportunities and existing problems as well as to discuss proposals aimed at their resolution.
The meeting was attended also by the RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotian, President of the RA National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirossian, representatives of the RA Youth Foundation.
Young scientists thanked the President of Armenia for putting these meetings on a regular basis, for his readiness to listen to their point of view and proposals and for highlighting the role of young specialists in the science development.
They discussed with the President of Armenia issues related to the working conditions of the young scientists, possibilities for their professional advancement, assistance to the programs implemented by the young specialists. Discussed was also the necessity to make amendments to the legislation pertinent to the area of science, bringing it in line with the contemporary requirements, and enhancement of the prestige of the scientists in the society.
Serzh Sargsyan responded to questions which interested the young scientists and gave instructions to the relevant state bodies related to some of their proposals. He noted that every year near 100 million AMD will be allocated through the existing foundations for the purpose of assisting young scientists in their work. President Sargsyan suggested that the young specialists present at the meeting discuss ways to use this funding efficiently, define prospective directions and procedures.
