President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the festive event dedicated to Armenia’s national football team
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the festive event dedicated to Armenia’s national football team which was organized by Armenia’s Football Federation.
President Sargsyan awarded Roman Berezovski, the goalkeeper of the national team with the second degree Medal “For Services Rendered to the Motherland” for his considerable contribution, longtime dedication and outstanding sport achievements. The captain of the national football team Sargis Hovsepian was awarded with the Movses Khorenatsi Medal for his considerable input in the development of sport and physical culture in Armenia, successful football playing, and brilliant athletic achievements. Members of the national team received gifts from the President of Armenia. President Sargsyan expressed confidence that in due time all members of Armenia’s national football team will be decorated with the highest state awards.
Serzh Sargsyan thanked the members of the national team on behalf of the Republic of Armenia, Armenian people and his own behalf, especially for their high class performance in 2011 which created unity, enthusiasm and excellent mood in our society. “We have no doubt that you too need inspiration and the source of your inspiration is both great and eternal – it is our nation,” the President of Armenia said, underscoring that today he wants to pay tribute to all those who have ever played in the national football team, who have laid good foundation, who have been training members of the national teams since they were children. “I would like each of you to be confident that the state is standing by you, state which is ready to support and assist its athletes, state which will do its best to make sport a pastime and excitement source for many,” the President of Armenia stressed.
Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Armenian Football Federation for organizing this event and warmly congratulated the participants with the coming New Year and Christmas holidays, wishing that 2012 become a year of greater success in our country, and a year of greater consolidation and unity for our society.
