President Serzh Sargsyan conducted a working visit to Ararat marz
President Serzh Sargsyan conducted today a working visit to Ararat marz. The President of Armenia attended celebrations dedicated to the 2200 anniversary of the one of Armenia’s numerous capitals – Artashat. To celebrate the anniversary of Artashat a state jubilee commission was established headed by the RA Minister of Culture. The President of Armenia participated also at the traditional Bounty Festival-2011, where the communities of the marz presented their bounty and produce.
In the framework of his working visit, Serzh Sargsyan familiarized with the preliminary works for the restoration of the Artashat town lake, which were commenced on July 6 in accordance with the instructions issued by the President during his visit to the marz. The lake, which once used to be the business card of the town, was created back in 1971, became a stinking swamp. According to the studies conducted by the Hayjurproject (Armwaterproject) Institute, the restoration of the lake, which will require around 235 million AMD, will solve ecological problems of the town.
The President of Armenia was informed that the necessary funds have been acquired and the preliminary works for the restoration of the lake will be concluded according to the timetable.
