President Serzh Sargsyan received governor of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region in Italy, Mr. Renzo Tondo
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received governor of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region in Italy, Mr. Renzo Tondo and his delegation.
The President of Armenia noted that the Armenian-Italian relations have good traditions and history created excellent opportunities to further these relations. Serzh Sargsyan underscored that Armenia is interested in developing multi-faceted relations with Italy and deepening cooperation and attaches utmost importance to political dialogue, interparliamentary relations, cooperation in the trade and economic, education and science, tourism and other areas. President Sargsyan stressed also the importance of developing decentralized cooperation among the self-governing bodies and welcomed strengthening relations between Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region in Italy and Tavush marz of Armenia and their cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
Governor Renzo Tondo expressed hope that development of relations at the level of local governance would become an additional impetus for the development and strengthening of cooperation between the governments of the two states. Stressing the importance of the economic component of the Armenian-Italian relations, he noted that in order to facilitate direct contacts between the business communities, his delegation comprises also Italian entrepreneurs who will discuss with their Armenian colleagues possibilities of mutually beneficial and perspective cooperation.
Speaking of his impressions from the visit to Armenia, the governor of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region noted, “During our visit to Armenia, we have discovered our common Christian roots. I am immensely impressed with your beautiful country.”
The governor of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region visited also the Armenian Genocide memorial and said that he was greatly touched by what he saw and heard.
