President Serzh Sargsyan received delegation of the RF Roscosmos agency
President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation of the RF Roscosmos agency headed by the cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation Mikhail Tyurin. The delegation is in Armenia in the framework of the celebrations dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first human space flight.
Welcoming the participants of the events entitled “Commencement of Caucasian Unity: Gagarin’s world shattering space flight as a result of the heroic work of a unified nation”, President Sargsyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the first human space flight and takes pride in the fact that once, being part of a great common state, the Armenians brought their considerable contribution to the groundwork for the first human flight to space, space studies and development of space travel science.
“We are truly proud with the heroic episodes of our common history. I believe those who don’t remember the past, have no future. I am very glad that these events are intended for young people, since the representatives of the elder generation remember those times all too well. It is admirable that the young people are not only the addressees of the celebrations but also their active participants. This is an excellent occasion to explain that the future belongs to those who possess knowledge, who’s bold and tenacious,” the President of Armenia said.
The members of the delegation expressed their thanks to the President of Armenia for the warm welcome and support in organizing in Armenia events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first human flight to space. They also said that going through the pages of the 50-year long history of the Soviet space travel science and familiarizing with the unique documentary they got added evidence regarding Armenia’s significant input into space exploration and development of space travel science.
