Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received delegation of the Russia-Armenia friendship group of the RF State Duma and representatives of the Young Guards movement of the United Russia political party. They have arrived to Armenia to attend the Armenia-Russia football match.

In strengthening relations between the two countries, the President stressed the importance of interparliamentary relations, highlighting the role of the interparliamentary friendship groups. Noting that the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership continues to deepen and is getting stronger through the contacts and reciprocal visits of the leaders and officials of the two states, Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the RF parliamentarians for their daily work aimed at building up friendship between the two nations and two states.

“We should pass this friendship to our younger generations, that’s what our older generation did for us,” said President Sargsyan, referring to the representatives of Young Guards movement who have initiated programs of cooperation with their Armenian friends.

The President of Armenia noted that it’s good that the visit of the RF parliamentarians coincided with the football match between the national teams of the two countries, which, according to the President, would become a celebration of friendship.

“The important thing is that all our sporting events turn into friendship celebrations, and I am confident that this game will follow suit. It’s quite natural that you will cheer for the Russian national team, we will cheer for our team and will hope that friendship will be the winner,” President of Armenia said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the members of the delegation presented President Sargsyan with the ball with the autographs of the players of the Russian national team and underscored that whatever the outcome of the game, friendship is the winner.
