President Sargsyan attended the inauguration of the new “Urartu: The Kingdom of Van” exhibition
Today, at Armenia’s State Museum of History President Serzh Sargsyan attended the inauguration of the new “Urartu: The Kingdom of Van” exhibition which after decades long interval presents culture, arts and history of the Kingdom of Van in IX-VI BC.
The President of Armenia observed the exclusive collection of over 1000 artifacts that were excavated on the territory of Armenia through the archeological works which were started in 1937 and go on until now. It was noted that over 70 percent of the augmented permanent exhibition artifacts are being presented to the public for the first time.
President Serzh Sargsyan visited also the Armenian National Gallery where he observed the exhibition dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of the great Armenian artist Vardges Sureniants.
The President of Armenia was informed that the exhibition comprises 8 halls where the visitors can see almost all paintings of the artist and the bulk of his graphic works. At the exhibition displayed are also numerous documental materials and photographs. It was also noted that the exhibition is unprecedented in its scope and content.
