President Serzh Sargsyan received the Prime Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Gilauri
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Prime Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Gilauri.
The President of Armenia stressed the importance of bilateral contacts at any level and noted that they create good opportunities to develop relations and expand cooperation in different areas. According to President Sargsyan, the Armenian-Georgian trade and economic relations are developing and there are positive trends; however compared to the existing potential the turnover cannot be assessed as sufficient, thus it is necessary to double efforts on that direction.
President Sargsyan and the Prime Minister of Georgia spoke also about the necessity to implement programs aimed at deepening of cooperation in the areas of culture, education and others.
“I believe, we should deepen our cultural relations. Recently, we have invigorated our works on that direction. The idea to conduct a School Olympiad was a great one. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about establishing fellowships for the Armenian students who will chose to study at Georgian universities which is very important. We will do the same. We should use any opportunity to facilitate contacts between the younger generation. It wouldn’t be redundant to note that our peoples have been friends for millennia and our task is to further deepen that tradition and pass it one to the coming generations,” said President Serzh Sargsyan. He also expressed confidence that at the meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikoloz Gilaurin has discussed the whole range of issues pertinent to the cooperation of the governments of the two countries.
The Prime Minister of Georgia presented to the President of Armenia results of that meeting. He also conveyed to President Sargsyan warm greetings from the President of Georgia and reiterated the invitation of Mikheil Saakashvili to Serzh Sargsyan to visit Georgia.
