On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations, President Sargsyan visited the UN Office in Yerevan
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations, President Serzh Sargsyan visited today the UN Office in Yerevan.
On the occasion of the UN Day, Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the Resident Coordinator Dafina Gercheva and the staff of the Agencies and Funds of the Organization. President Sargsyan praised activities conducted by the UN in Armenia since 1992 which, according to the President, have been directed to the development of Armenia and increased well-being of her citizens. The President of Armenia thanked the staff of the mission for their considerable contribution to the resolution of the problems facing Armenia in different areas and wished all the best in their work.
“These 65 years came to prove that the UN has been indispensable for human development processes. I am glad that Armenia, which became the UN member in 1992, subscribing to all-human values, protection of human rights and principles of democracy as indivisible part of state ideology, has actively engaged in the UN structures and, within the scope of our capabilities, has been able to bring her participation to the realization of our common tasks,” the President of Armenia said and underscored that Armenia stands ready to engage actively in the activities of the Organization, attributing to common success.
The UN Resident Coordinator Mrs. Gercheva noted that activities of the UN Yerevan Office would be impossible without strategic cooperation with the government of Armenia. She also assured that targets set before the Office would be achieved through joint efforts which would in turn raise living standard of the citizens of Armenia.
