Welcoming Address by President Serzh Sargsyan for the Fourth All-Armenian Conference on Education
I cordially greet the participants, organizers and guests of the Fourth All-Armenian Conference on Education. The format of these traditional meetings dedicated to education provides excellent opportunities to discuss challenges facing the Armenian educational establishments abroad, to define and coordinate works aimed at the strengthening the ties and further cooperation between Armenia and Spyurq in the area of education.
We should spare no effort to keep the Armenian language and Armenian spirit alive in foreign countries, far away from the homeland. Today, one of the critical issues facing the Armenian nation is to minimize the risk of assimilation. In modern world, when individualism and alienation prevail in the lives of city dwellers, coming back to one’s roots becomes one of the means to escape these tendencies. That’s why it is so important to design new programs for those who want and crave to rediscover their Armenian roots and reestablish ties with the land of their forefathers.
Armenia is the homeland of the entire Armenian nation. Preservation of the Armenian identity abroad serves interests of the Republic of Armenia. It is not Syurq’s problem exclusively and we fully comprehend it. The Armenian language and self-consciousness are essential conditions for our nation’s eternal life.
Dear Friends,
I wish the Fourth All-Armenian Conference on Education very productive work, and I wish our sisters and brothers from Diaspora new and great impressions from our Motherland.
