President Serzh Sargsyan visited the camp of the Miasin youth movement on the shores of Lake Sevan
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the camp of the Miasin youth movement on the shores of Lake Sevan, where for the second year in a row participants of the all-Armenian educational forum Miasin-2010 carry out their recreational and learning activities.
The President of Armenia inquired about the everyday activities of the young people, their impressions of the camp and knowledge acquired in the framework of the learning program. Serzh Sargsyan welcomed enthusiastic activities of Miasin and spoke words of encouragement for the events organized by the movement. Highlighting the importance of the fact that along with resting young people also have additional opportunities to study and obtain knowledge, the President of Armenia informed the campers that on July 22 he would be meeting with the recipients of the Luys Foundation stipends, i.e. with the young people who this year have been accepted to the leading educational establishments abroad. “I want us, and I consider myself to be one of you, to be great proponents of learning. I want us be able with our own example to prove that in our society a knowledgeable person is in great demand. Today, we need many young people who possess knowledge and can work in the state governance system,” said Serzh Sargsyan and expressed readiness to assist all worthy initiatives of the young people.
Participants of the Miasin program discussed with the President of Armenia a number of issues, including the future activities of Miasin, development programs and the state’s youth policy. They directed to the President questions related to the recent developments in our foreign policy and current challenges. Particularly, the young people wanted to know more about the current stage of the NK peace process in the light of the Saint Petersburg meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan mediated by the President of the Russian Federation, Statement made by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OSCE Minsk Group member states in Almaty, as well as about the Armenian-Turkish relations and Armenia’s Eurointegration process.
The Miasin-2010 campers on the day of the Presidential visit were joined by the participants of the All-Armenian Come Home program from Diaspora, who told Serzh Sargsyan about their heavy schedule of cultural activities, multiple meetings, about being hosted by the Armenian families, unforgettable impressions from visiting Armenia’s historic and historical sites and their arrangements for staying in constant touch with Armenia. The President of Armenia underscored the importance of Come Home program which provided Diaspora Armenians, particularly, young people with the opportunity to visit their Motherland, communicate with the compatriots, learn first hand many things about Armenia and be inspired with patriotic feelings.
