President Serzh Sargsyan received the Heads of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Heads of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, who arrived to Armenia to participate at the field session of the PA delegations of the CSTO member states.
Highlighting the importance of conducting the PA field session in Yerevan, President Sargsyan said that our country attaches great importance to the formation and strengthening of the CSTO and to the processes which take place in the framework of the organization. “It is no coincidence that thirty out of thirty-one agreements signed in the framework of the CSTO have already been ratified by the National Assembly of Armenia,” the President of Armenia stressed. Noting, that even major countries are not always capable of handling perilous challenges, Serzh Sargsyan said that for the countries such as Armenia the integration processes with the Organization are very important.
The Chairman of the PA CSTO, Speaker of the RF Duma Boris Gryzlov said that the Yerevan session of the PA CSTO was the first field session of the PA. The Heads of the delegations participating at the session expressed thanks for warm reception and noted interested and constructive discussions took place regarding all the items on the agenda of the session. They expressed confidence that the Yerevan session of the PA would give a new impetus to the legislature component of the CSTO.
President Sargsyan expressed confidence that the outcome of the session would strengthen the Organization and enhance interaction of its member-states.
