President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina Jorge Taiana, who has arrived to Armenia to participate at the opening of the Embassy of Argentina in Yerevan.
President Sargsyan congratulated Minister Taiana on the 200th anniversary of Independence of Argentina and on the opening of the Argentinean Embassy in Yerevan. Serzh Sargsyan spoke with satisfaction about the current high level of the Armenian-Argentinean relations and said that all the opportunities should be used to deepen them even further.
Jorge Taiana said that his country attaches great importance to the strengthening of the relations with friendly Armenia, and the opening of the first Argentinean Embassy in the South Caucasus region should be viewed from that perspective.
The parties spoke about the necessity of maintaining the Armenian-Argentinean political dialogue at all levels, enhancement of the economic ties, and invigoration of the contacts in the areas of sport and culture. Minister Taiana noted that Argentina is ready to assist Armenia in the implementation of the economic development programs, particularly providing new technologies for agriculture development.
President Sargsyan spoke with gratitude about the attitude of the government of Argentina toward the Armenian community, noting that it allowed the Armenians in Argentina to fully integrate in the society and achieve considerable success. The interlocutors mentioned that the Armenian community of Argentina is a link between the two countries, and it is also proved by the presence of many Argentinean businessmen in Armenia.
President Sargsyan and Minister Taiana spoke also about the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the NK peace process. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, the position of his country on the Genocide issue is firm – the fact of Genocide is not subject to debate. Jorge Taiana spoke also about the belligerent statements of Azerbaijan, stressing that they were not conducive to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
