President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev met in Munich

On November 22, in the framework of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution process, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev met in Munich. This is the sixth meeting of the two Presidents during this year.

The meeting of Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliev commenced in the extended format with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mamedyarov, as well as the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia), Bernard Fassier (France), and Robert Bradtke (USA), and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk. The Presidents continued their meeting tête-à-tête and afterwards the negotiations were once again resumed in the extended format.

At the meeting, which took place at the French Consulate in Munich and lasted for almost four hours, discussed were issues pertinent to the peaceful and comprehensive resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries were instructed to continue their work with the assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict based on the Madrid principles.

At the briefing, which took place after the negotiations, the Co-Chairs assessed the meeting as constructive and stressed once again that there is no military solution to the NK conflict and there is no alternative to peace negotiations.
