President Serzh Sargsyan conducted a working visit to Gegharkunik marz
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan conducted a working visit to Gegharkunik marz.
The President’s first stop was Sevan National Park. Serzh Sargsyan toured the Park and familiarized with its activities. Afterwards, the President of Armenia conducted a working meeting with the participation of the members of the commission dealing with the issues of Lake Sevan. Present at the meeting were also the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorkian and the Minister of Transport and Communications Gurgen Sarkissian.
The Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunian and the Chairman of the Commission on Sevan issues Vladimir Movsissian spoke about the works accomplished in the Sevan National Park and the results of the conducted examininations. Discussed were also works, which are being conducted while the level of the water in the Lake continues to rise, as well as issues related to the littoral structures and vital infrastructure.
Stressing the importance of Sevan’s elevation, the President of Armenia stressed at the same time that due attention must be paid to the cleanliness of the water to avoid erosion and swamps which could create new problems. Serzh Sargsyan invited the attention of those present to the issues of quality of the conducted analyses. “I am very much concerned with the quality of the works. I want to make it absolutely clear for everyone that if there are problems with the quality of the works, the measure of liability will be doubled. We are investing here from our scarce resources to solve problems of the future. If these resources are not used properly, I have to repeat – demands on accountability will double,” said the President.
Serzh Sargsyan instructed to send proposals put forward during the meeting to the Government for the adoption of the corresponding plans of works. “However these plans must be realistic, should be synchronized with all relevant agencies and correspond to our gradual possibilities, “ the President of Armenia underscored.
At the meeting discussed were also issues of Sevan National Park’s boundaries, territorial and functional zoning and investment programs.
Later, the President of Armenia visited the newly renovated section of Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway and observed the ongoing works. The repairs were necessitated by the rising level of Sevan. Construction works started in May 2009 and will conclude in 2010.
At Lichq village President Sargsyan visited the newly constructed BBG private medical center. The center provides both in-patient and outpatient services. Medical services are provided by the local specialists as well as by those invited from the capital.
In Tsovasar village, the President of Armenia visited a newly constructed outpatient medical facility which has been built and equipped under the patronage of the Ministry of Health.
In Tsovasar village, Serzh Sargsyan attended also the opening ceremony of Bakhtibek Mouradian Secondary school, built and equipped through the donations of the Mouradian family. He also visited the leisure center of the village, which has also been renovated and furnished through the donations of the Mouradian family.
