The newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Armenia presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Masaharu Kohno (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, President Sargsyan said that Armenia is interested in deepening multifaceted relations with Japan. Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the government of Japan for assistance provided to Armenia and support for development programs. “Grants, technical assistance and loans provided by the government of Japan are very important for us. I attach special importance, and believe it to be a success story, to the program of modernization of the Yerevan thermoelectric station, which will facilitate the economic development of Armenia and will allow to mitigate to some extent social tensions,” the President of Armenia underscored.
President Sargsyan said that there is still much to be done for the development of bilateral economic relations. With this regard he stressed the importance of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia to Tokyo, noting that it would allow to continue political dialogue and discuss possibilities of deepening cooperation in different areas. The President assured the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan that during his tenure he can constantly rely on the support of our state bodies.
The parties concurred that there is a great potential for economic cooperation which should be utilized in its entirety.
Ambassador Kohno said that he would do his best for further development of bilateral relations. Noting, that today Yerevan State Conservatory received new musical instruments as a gift from the government of Japan, the Ambassador of Japan said, “This is a sign of Japan’s respect toward Armenian musical traditions.”
The two sides exchanged also views on Armenia-Turkey normalization process. Ambassador Kohno said that the government of Japan fully supports this process.
