The newly appointed Ambassador of India to Armenia presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia Achal Kumar Malhotra presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his new position, the President of Armenia said, “Our countries enjoy friendly relations which develop quite well, it is also true that we are striving to deepen them even more. Our two peoples know each other for a long time, almost five hundred years, and the current level of our relations testifies to the fact that we didn’t ever have any problems and the experience of those years can be useful for us today.” According to Serzh Sargsyan, “the Armenian-Indian community is one of the most prominent communities and it is not an accident that the first Armenian newspaper was published in India.
“Deep historical roots and absence of any problems between the two states inspire absolute optimism regarding the future of our relations,” underlined the President of Armenia.
In his turn Ambassador Malhorta noted that India and Armenia have excellent rapport and the Indian government intends to strengthen relations with Armenia on bilateral as well as multilateral levels. Speaking about centuries long relationship of the two nations the Ambassador said that Armenian merchants had discovered the Indian market well ahead of the Europeans. He stressed the role that the Armenians in India played throughout the country’s history and underscored that even today they continue to have a significant contribution to India’s multicultural, multiconfessional, and multicolor society.
Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of enforcing political relations with economic ties. Ambassador Malhorta said that his country has registered great progress in the development of human resources and is a reliable partner.
The two sides noted with satisfaction efficient cooperation in multilateral settings and each other’s balanced position on sensitive issues.
Wishing the new Ambassador success, President Sargsyan expressed hope that he would have an important input in the further deepening and expansion of Armenia-India relations.
