President Serzh Sargsyan received the Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee George Colombier and John Prescott

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee George Colombier and John Prescott.

The purpose of the Co-Rapporteurs’ visit is to study the implementation of the PACE resolutions 1609, 1620 and 1643 before the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

President Sargsyan hailed Armenia’s cooperation with the Council of Europe and said, “I believe that in this period of time it has become clear that our country is ready to fulfill the assumed obligations.”

The two sides noted that the parties have developed efficient cooperation regarding the uncovering of the solutions for the existing problems.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of the registered progress. The Co-Rapporteurs welcomed the Armenian President’s initiative to start a process of granting pardon. They also made inquires regarding the procedures of granting pardon, spoke about the time-table, and the scope of inclusiveness.

The Co-Rapporteurs said that they would present their observations at the upcoming session of the PACE.
